RHCSA Book for RHEL 9
I’ve written another book! Reality: I thank Alessandro Ossaria for doing the work for the 7th and 8th edition of my books for the Red Hat certification exams. Here’s a link.
But with so many editions, the history goes deeper. The first edition was published in 1999. I took over authorship with the 3rd edition back in 2002. I’ve rewritten the book for subsequent editions in 2004, 2007, 2011. Alessandro updated the book in 2014, and now again this year.
Thanks to McGraw-Hill, I’ve had the opportunity to write, rewrite, and edit various editions of this book, now for over two decades.
This is the last time McGraw-Hill will publish my work for various Linux certification exams. They’ve graciously given me the rights to the content in these books. I’m currently looking for a new publisher. (I’m also considering self-publishing options.)
The Red Hat exams are unique. They’re “hands-on” exams where you might be asked to fix a broken system, or to configure various services from scratch.
To write these books, I’ve experimented with Red Hat systems. I’ve fixed broken bootloaders. I’ve burned “rescue mode” into my memory. I’ve configured the major services common with Linux in various ways. I still enjoy the intricacies of Security-enhanced Linux!
Writing these books helps me appreciate what QA has to do with software. It gave me the confidence to set up, configure, and run an office server lab based on VMWare Server ESXi.
