RSA. Sometimes We Get Fooled

I’ve been following the saga of the researcher who claims to have cracked RSA-2048. I’ve also been following to learn about the future of encryption.

As implied in https://lnkd.in/gNaFesG4 , I feel like I was fooled by the assertion.

As suggested in https://lnkd.in/gjQspSKm, various experts have asked for proof. The researcher suggested that people read his paper.

The article quotes a professor who read his paper: “it appears to be ‘all theory proving various conjectures - and those proofs are definitely in question.’”

The article also cites https://lnkd.in/gGfy8Ptz, which describes quantum-based algorithms which should be secure once we move towards quantum-based computing.

TLDR: We’ll need to transition away from algorithms such as RSA by about 2030. 😅
