Mike can help you create better content
Hello! I’m Mike Jang, and I’m searching for a new role as a Technical Writer/Author/Content Creator. I create clear and engaging documentation for developers, sysadmins, and security professionals.
I’m open for work, and I’d appreciate your support. Here’s what I’ve done and what I’m looking for:
Over the past decade, I’ve created helpful and readable software documentation in:
- Identity Management
- Software security
- DevOps
- Artificial Intelligence
I test products before writing about them. As a published author (> 20 books), I have subject matter expertise in Linux and related services.
I’d like to join a team of writers, especially those who also want subject matter expertise. I do enjoy startups, as I created Cobalt’s documentation from scratch. A former CEO said this about my work:
“I love his attention to detail and how he elevated all the little things. With time, this relentless attention and care to the detail makes our
product 100x better.”
I’m open to remote and roles in the Portland Oregon metro area.
Friends and colleagues: please tag and share this post with companies and hiring managers who need documentation that helps sell their products.
Bonus points: Introduce me to potential future colleagues and managers!
I take pride in other accomplishments:
- Written > 20 books, mostly on Linux.
- Earned the RHCE certificate three times.
- Configured Linux from scratch with a variety of services, including SSH, vsFTP, Apache, Squid, and Samba.
- Installed, configured, and maintained the (VMWare ESXi) server lab
This gives me subject matter expertise in Linux, and a systems administrator perspective on software deployments.
Believe it or not, I actually enjoy configuring Security-enhanced Linux.
For a sample, here’s a link to one of my talks, “10 Steps to a Better README,” which I presented at O’Reilly OSCON Ignite in 2015 (5.5 minutes):
